Alessandra Posada, Bakersfield, CA I was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Colombia, and living in Bakersfield since May, 2008. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and previous worked in the educational area. I started as a self taught artist, later received instruction in acrylic painting and acrylic textures. I can describe my work in general terms as expressionist; the symbol, the organic shapes, composition, topic and color have a special meaning for me. Being raised in a family of squared minds was difficult in many ways, especially when trying to make myself clear. Now I enjoy making art and other people's artwork because it is a language as universal, effective and complex as that one of love, with all its shapes, colors, and purposes. I love the ways art transforms itself in medicine and gives hope for those in crisis and those who struggle everyday with a disability and I'm glad to participate in that process of healing. AWB is another extraordinary happening I was not looking for, expecting or planning, but is the kind of things that sometimes happen to come subtly in the right place at the right time. |

Andrea Revetta, Hickory, NC I was born in Pittsburg, CA., raised in upstate N.Y. and moved to Hickory, N.C. in 1994. Growing up I always had two or three drawings, paintings or some other kind of project going on. In high school I took every art class they offered. They actually had to make up classes so I could complete my major in art. Reality set in when I graduated and had to go to work. Unfortunately, art was put on the back burner. Over the years I had two kids and adopted three. They are mostly grown and living on their own now which gave me the time to start painting again. I even took a few classes. One day, I accidentally stumbled upon Art Without Boundaries and knew this was the path I needed to take. I feel this is the perfect opportunity to take my talents and use them to make such an impact on others which will make it rewarding to everyone. |
