All CECs must be completed and submitted by 6/1 of each year

Here are some steps you might want to take:

  1. Create an AWBA Business Manual, (if you haven't done this.) This is where you can keep your signed copy of the
Association Membership Agreement, The Code of Ethics and any addendums or amendments. Addendums are
additions to the Agreement, Amendments are changes to the Agreement. You may also want to keep a copy of your
Certification in the Manual if you plan on framing and displaying it.
  2. Track your credits. You may collect them at your own pace. Keep track in your manual, mark it on a calendar, or some
other way to remind yourself. You will receive an email back after you submit each update or video link, but you will not
receive a notice from the management company that you have not earned all of your credits.
  3. If not renewed, your Certification expires 6/2/11.

Earning CE Credits

The Continuing Education Credits will be made up of a combination of TWO Submissions and
Updates:

  1. One video and 2 photos of a painting with an ASD or special needs student: 2 credits
  2. One video and 2 photos of a painting with an adult with dementia or other disorders: 2 credits
  3. Updates: 1 credit for each Update: 7 credits

RE-CERTIFYING EXCEPTION: Since I will be adding updates each year and it's important that everyone read them all,
Members who have re-certified before, will only have to read the new update. Everyone else will be required to
read them all. I will send out one credit for each update you complete,  but members who have previously re-certified will
receive 7 credits for the new update.

Submissions:

TWO credits for one video and 2 photo sample painting posted.

  • The video must be a complete session from beginning to end and have good audio.
  • MMTs and CMTs will submit one video of a complete session with an ASD student and one video of a complete session
with a dementia patient. Please make sure if the person has dementia, that he or she has a photo release.
  • Use Picasa, Smilebox or another digital photography storage site, mark it private and send me a link. You may also
include your2 samples in that same album (samples explained below). To download Picasa, just type in download Picasa
    into a search.

Samples

  • The samples are from other sessions with an ASD student and a dementia client and should include both a floral and a
    landscape.
  • It should be a still photo and not a video of the painting.
  • It should be close up and clear. If the painting does not show depth, the elements grounded with a clear horizon line or
the painting is not as good as it could be, you may be required to watch an additional update on technique and resubmit.

AWBF will send back a critique and notification of earned credits.

Update = One credit
With the exception of those who certified last year. Explained above
Continuing Education

As a part of a complete renewal of an individual's
certification, it is common for the individual to show evidence
of continued learning — often termed continuing education,
or earning continuing education units (CEU). We call ours
CEC Continuing Education Credits.

In our organization, Continuing Education is handled by the
Association Management Company.

Q and A

Q: What if I have trouble and I don't get it in on time?

A: Contact awbf@bellsouth.net and explain your situation. More time is given if the circumstances warrant it.
We suggest you start early and don't wait until the week before the deadline. Figure out how to post videos
and find a web-based photo site that you can post them on by using the tutorial below.

Q: What if my work is not acceptable for some reason? Will I lose my Membership?

A: NO. If you will receive comments on the procedure and suggests on changes you should make. If the
examiner determines that you require some additional instruction on the actual painting process, you may
be required to view some videos and resubmit examples of the clients' work,.

Our goal is not to censure your talent, but to give you some tips and tricks on applying this style of painting
which is very different that how you usually paint. Sometimes following simple rules, like keeping more
control of the client in the process, will turn your paintings from childlike to professional.

Q: I thought this was my own business. Why does AWBA need to see what I'm doing?

A:  As a part of a complete renewal of an individual's certification, it is common for the individual to show
evidence of continued learning — often termed continuing education. Earning CEUs is done in nearly all
professional organizations and it important that while using the name Art Without Boundaries and calling
the process that you use MnemeTherapy that you are doing the process correctly to get the best results. It
is equally important that you keep up with the changes that are happening in MnemeTherapy.

We suggest you join FaceBook and the member's page to learn of recent developments and participate in
reporting your results. We are brand new when it comes to therapy and we are all learning and sharing as
we go along.
Video Tutorial
1. Roll it!
If you are going to do your videos back yourself, you'll need a camera and a tripod. If you can't
borrow them, and wish to invest in your business, we several tripods brands available on the
AWB Wellness Store (under Education) from $2-$14
http://astore.amazon.com/artwithboun-20/detail/B000JC8WYA

If you don't have a camera that takes videos, I can highly recommend the one that I use.

Canon PowerShot A3100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized
Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD
http://astore.amazon.com/artwithboun-20/detail/B0032JRRX4

I've been through several cameras since I started and I like this one the best for ease in
switching from still to video, that's on a knob on the top of the camera. My other camera, I had to
open a menu and it took forever. Plus it takes really good, high quality photos. I would suggest
getting the
battery charger, and an extra battery, so you can be charging one while you use
one. ($2.51)

This one is $4.74 and comes with a car charger, which is helpful when you're on the road.

Just as a reminder, all proceeds from purchases made in the AWBA Wellness Store go into a
benevolent fund to help students or members.
2. Action!
If you need to review the script and process, now would be a good time to do it!

Make sure the client you are going to video has a photo release or direct permission from a family member. If it a child, make
sure the parent is there. They may even help you by turning the camera on and off. Let them know that this is not for
publication, it will only be viewed by your Mentor, unless you plan on using it for advertising purposes.

It's better to do it in several segments. They will upload quicker to Picasa that way as well. Just stop the camera and start
it again.

  1. Once you have everything ready, set the camera up in a location that you can see both of you during the beginning
    games.
  2. Then, after that segment, you'll want to move the camera, so that the going through the book and the painting process
can be clearly seen. You may even want to stop it and look at it to make sure everything is in the shot. You can delete
    that one later.
  3. Move the camera again to see the end song and games, if needed
  4. Fake a "Presentation" on one of the videos with a make believe audience so I can hear what you say.
  5. Include a shot of the painting that was done so I can see if there's anything you need to do to improve your technique.  I
don't need one of the client holding it, I need to see a close up of the painting.
  6. Beside the painting from this session, you need a still shot of either a floral or landscape from another session.  If you
have them all on your camera when you upload, they will all go in the same album and you'll only have to go through the
    process once.
3. Uploading in ten easy steps:)

Members have been complaining that loading videos have been taking too long with Picasa, If you're having
those issues, use SmileBox. The software is free to download and I loaded and sent out 4 videos in no time.
http://smilebox.com

For using Picasa:
  1. If you don't have a online photo program you're familiar with, upload Picasa  I couldn't go through the sign up process,
because I'm already registered with Google, but if you have to sign up for Google, you can get a email address and
    never have to use it.
  2. Once you've downloaded the software, when you plug in your camera and turn it on you should get a screen pop up
asking what program you want to use to download the pictures. Choose Picasa
  3. Once the videos are uploaded, they are still in the program on your computer. You can delete the outtakes or the ones
    you don't need.
  4. If you want to combine them into one movie for each client you can, BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY. If you want to change
the title of the album, click on FOLDER (at the top left) EDIT DESCRIPTION
  5. When you have the album in the order that you want it, up at the top right you will see SYNC TO WEB click that little
icon and you'll see s whirly thing showing that it's sending them up to the online website.
  6. It may take a while. When it is finished you will see in blue at the top "VIEW ONLINE PUBLIC ON THE WEB"Click on
that, and you will go to the online web.
  7. Once on the online website (it will open in another window) you should see your album. Click on it and when it opens,
click on ACTIONS and then ALBUM PROPERTIES
  8. You can change the title here if you want with your name on it, but the IMPORTANT THING TO DO IS CHANGE THE
VISIBILITY TO LIMITED, ANYONE WITH THE LINK. This will keep the process private. Click on SAVE CHANGES.
  9. At the top click on SHARE, type my address in the TO: box awbf@bellsouth.net and then YOU'RE DONE!!
  10. CONGRATULATIONS!!

If you don't want to use Picasa, here are some other options:

  1. YouTube: make sure you mark it private, click on share and send me the link
  2. SmileBox: Please choose a design that you can click on NO MUSIC. I need to hear what you say so I can't mute it
  3. Do a search for Posting Videos free. I received 2,270,000,000 hits. You ought to be able to find something that works
    for you.
Here's the good news, once you learn to do it, then it will be easy for you to post videos of dramatic results and spread the
word about your business and MnemeTherapy!
