Q: Is this safe? How do I know our supporters will get what
they pay for?
A: AWB holds the auction using state-of-the-art online auction
software monitored on our own website. Your friends and supporters
will pay through Paypal, a separate, secure website. We only deal with
reputable vendors who specialize in providing auction items for
charities. (for more information see the insert at the bottom of the
page)
Q: How much does this cost us? Do I have to go around and
get donated items?
A: You don't invest anything except your time and energy. We provide
highly sought after, hard to find, unique auction items such as:
Q: What if we want to add local items?
A: You can! The AWB online auction is set up like ebay, but you don't
have to pay to list items. You can offer the AWB paintings your
clients/students/residents have produced; restaurants coupons;
tickets to area attractions and other local services. (We provide a long
list of ideas on our getting started page)
You'll make a bigger percentage on these donated items. These items
will be marked for sale for your area only, unless you want to ship
them. Paintings will be easy to ship (and we pay the shipping out of
the proceeds) so you may want to give them a wider audience.
Q: How do we know if the bidder intended the money to go to
us?
A: When your supporters pre-register they put in your TEAM CODE
We'll track that code and give you the credit.
Q: What if another team's supporter wins our donation items,
do they get the proceeds?
A: No. Any donated items and AWB paintings that you list generates
proceeds that come back to you.
Q: What does "proceeds" mean?
A: Here's the formula Selling price (minus) cost (minus) expenses
= proceeds.
Example: The 2010 NBA All-Star Game 3-Night Package in Dallas for
(2) goes for $6,000 to the winning bidder. Cost to us (set by our
vendor): $5,600.00. AWBF pays the independent contractor who is
running the auction and doing the accounting a percentage and the
balance goes into the team account. An email is sent to the team of
the current account balance and they set up a schedule with the
MnemeTherapist and the MT invoices us for the service.
REGISTER AS A TEAM OR SUPPORTER
Q: What are the risks and obligations?
A: None. We use vendors who have a risk free policy. We can select
as many packages or items as we wish for the auction and we are only
responsible to pay for items that are sold. We can't, obviously control
the donated items you have collected and listed. That will be your
responsibility to delivery those items in a timely manner. Remember,
local items are optional.
If you don't have any bidders, the worst that can happen is you don't
raise any funds, simple as that. You are not responsible to pay for
anything. (You might want to return the donated items, though:)
Q: How many times can we participate?
A: The auction runs the first 10 days of the month, every month. Once
your supporter registers, they can come back each month and check
out what's being offered. You keep telling people, you keep raising
money, you keep receiving services.
Q: What if we are not a health care organization or school, but
we want to participate so another organization can receive
MnemeTherapy™ services?
A: Good for you! Just list your group name (or make up a team name)
and make sure you put the organization to receive services in as
Beneficiary when you pre-register.

Q: Does a purchase through the AWB Online Auction qualify as
a charitable contribution?
A: Probably the most common misconception bidders have about
charitable auctions is that any payment they make for items
purchased constitutes a charitable contribution to the sponsoring
charity. In fact, a charitable contribution results only if the amount
paid for the item exceeds its fair market value. The fact that the
item was donated to the charity does not change the result. The
buyers have entered into a quid pro quo transaction in which they
received value for the payment they made. A quid pro quo transaction
is not a gift.
In this case, the starting bid is the fair market value. So anything you
pay above the starting bid is your charitable donation. For more

A: If you put in a TEAM CODE, the proceeds, (formula explained
above) will be used to provide MnemeTherapy services for the
beneficiary of the team. In some cases it might be a health care
organization or an autistic school or program. Some teams are made
up of individuals or families who wish to raise funds for one or more
recipient. You donation goes to your team. If no team is designated,
the funds will go into the student grant fund to provide matching
grants for opening AWB Chapters.
The Art Without Boundaries Foundation has tax exempt status under

huge staff salaries and the many expenses associated with running an
office. We are run by volunteers and our budget is less than $50 per
month. Generally when you make a donation to a charitable
organization, 80-90% of it goes just to keep the doors open. The
opposite is true with AWBF.
Q: What is MnemeTherapy?
A: MnemeTherapy™ uses everyday pleasures such as singing,
movement, painting and story telling in a unique combination to
stimulate dramatic changes in the brain. Although our goal is to
provide a rewarding experience, documented testimonies show
significant improvement in some clients in verbal skills, mobility,
combativeness, spatial acuity and understanding instructions.
Q: Is this the same as Art Therapy?
A: No. Art Therapy, is a psychological process and therefore must be
licensed by the state. Art Therapy uses expressive or creative art with
the goal of exploring feelings. MnemeTherapy™ is not about feelings
or talking about the art, it's about the brain and synaptic development.
Our goal is provide a rewarding experience and we use everyday,
pleasurable experiences in a unique combination such as singing and
painting, movements, story telling and praise to create whole brain
synchronization and sustained attentive focus. This may stimulate
neuroplasticity, or the ability to move functions and create new neural
pathways.

Our vendor for vacation packages has worked with over 4,000 non-profits in all 50 states for the past 12 years. The winning bidder is sent a certificate package via signature required delivery. All packages include instructions so winning bidders can self book. In addition, they provide you with a travel concierge if you have any questions. Autographed items come from one of the oldest established online autographed dealers. They are UACC REGISTERED DEALER #237 (the most respected and elite autograph organization in the world) and are an Accredited Better Business Bureau Member with a lifetime complaint free record. They have excellent references for both their charity work and for autographs from well known charities such as Ronald McDonald House and United Firefighters of America. Our vendor who supplies electronics offers the guarantee that all products purchased are free of defects or you may return the item immediately for a new replacement. If the item was damaged during shipment, they send instructions on how to file a claim. If you are not satisfied with the item, you may return it to them within a period of 30 days. AWB does not stock or ship anything, but will be glad to assist you in any way we can, making sure that you are satisfied with your purchase.
