Although the goal of MnemeTherapy is
to provide the client with a rewarding
experience, with some clients we see
immediate, dramatic results. This is a
great example of someone with
agnosia (not getting information from
the senses) and receptive and
expressive aphasia (understanding
and using words)

This client was non-responsive with
little eye contact and a short attention
span. She often dropped the paint
brush and at first could not move the
paint brush around. Pay close
attention to the 'butterfly game" at the
beginning and her response at the
end. You can almost see her brain
sorting it out.
This testimony is from the director of
an adult day center about how the
AWB Program can actually make care
easier for the staff of health care
organizations.
This is a good example of how the Art
Without Boundaries Program can
capture the attention and engage
uninvolved patients in health care
settings.

This video shows actual improvements
in expression and receptive aphasia.
(The inability to understand and
express language) in just one session
of MnemeTherapy™

Pre-session his speak was confused,
he made no eye contact and couldn't
understand or follow instruction. Listen
for his clear response at the end:
"Who made that?" "No, that can't be
right." and watch for eye contact.
This lovely lady was an artist, but had lost
the ability to communicate (receptive and
expressive aphasia) or understand
information she was receiving from her
senses. (agnosia).

Although she made eye contact and
responded to physical cueing, at the
beginning of the session, she repeatedly
dropped the paint brush and didn't move
the brush independently.

We were thrilled that we captured the
moment when she began to move the
paintbrush on her own. By the end of the
session, she was speaking in complete
sentences, was aware and proud of the
painting she had done and had
reconnected with her world.
Even in photos, the changes in some individuals are
dramatic. Notice the improvement in posture, holding
the head erect and expression of this lovely lady.
