Spread the Word!

Because AWB is a virtual organization, that means there's no
money in the budget for advertising. Therefore we depend on
you to spread the word about becoming a MnemeTherapist.
It's also a way that you can pay off your tuition or earn cash.

Trainees

If you are still training and making payments, you can receive a
$500 credit on your tuition (explained below)

If you are in training, but have your tuition paid in full, you can
earn the $500 in cash.

Master MnemeTherapists

If you have the designation of MMT, you will earn 75% of the
membership fee for recruiting and training.

Not an artist? Not a problem!

If you have a desire to be part of the AWB movement, but can't
paint, you can still help us spread the word by recruiting. You
must register below. We will pay you $500 for each accepted and
paid applicant. For applicants who are making payments, you will
receive 50% of payment (until you reach $500)
Q & A on Recruiting

Q: How do I find artists to recruit?

A: How did you find out about AWB? What was said that sparked your curiosity enough to go to the
website?

In addition to talking to your friends and artists
from other areas, you can find artists on the
Internet by placing ads, free and paid.  Do an Internet search to find artists sites. Here are some
places I've used to place ads:

  • Craigslist.org
  • MySpace
  • FaceBook
  • ArtBistro
  • Tribe.net
  • Absolutearts
  • ArtsOpporutnity

Q: What should I say? Do I have to "sell" them on the program?

A:
With ads and personal conversations, you want the end result to be the same: go to the
website
.  We have an effective recruiting program and can track your recruits for you if you
register your PIN, a code you will put in your ads so when someone fills out an application, we will
know you generated it. If you are talking to a friend (in another area-you don't want to recruit
anyone in your own back yard, since that's where you are going to be working) you can just explain
what attracted you to the program. Don't make any claims that are unsubstantiated, as to income or
success stories that are undocumented.

Here's a sample of a Craigslist.org ad I've used:

Do you want to make a difference?

The Art Without Boundaries Association is seeking an experienced, self-directed, compassionate
visual artist to train in a therapy used with autistic children and adults with dementia.

You'll have a choice of working for an established chapter or starting one of your own. The
excellent income will not begin to measure up to the reward you'll feel when improving the quality of
the lives you touch.

To read a Q and A about our program, see the amazing results of this therapy and fill out an
application, visit our website:

compensation: Top wages plus $2,000 bonus for training others
(DO NOT PUT IN A DOLLAR AMOUNT FOR THE HOURLY WAGE)

A word about Craigslist:

I use it a lot because it has great presence with the search engines. When artists are looking for
freelance, they do a search and craigslist pops up. The downside is that they do have rules and
regs that can be a bit of a pain.  I can see why they need them, so we try hard to abide by them.

For example:
  • "please do not post the same job description to multiple categories or cities"

Technically, there is one job per area. Each city is a different chapter and a different job.

  • "all job ads must offer monetary compensation -- no unpaid internships, barters,
deferred pay, etc. Positions requiring upfront fees"

When someone is trained, they will receive monetary compensation by doing the service. Someone
could go through the curriculum free without any upfront fees by recruiting and forming an auction
team.

Even though we can justify our position, that doesn't mean their programming won't slam you if you
try to post the same ad over and over. So to get around it, you need to
change the title each
time you post an ad
. Be creative. If you responded to an ad, what attracted you? Right now the
body can stay the same, but that may change.

be strong and just send them back to the website.)

Questions or
comments?
Q: What if my recruit is not accepted?

A:
That is a possibility. Take the photos on the right, which were sent to me as
samples. Besides one being sideways, (which tells a lot!) the work is childish and
lacks skill. Although the artist said on her application that she was an art major
for one year, I have to question the training she received.  In the interview she
argued with me when I asked her to try again or to take some classes. This isn't
for everyone.

If they have other qualities, like lots of experience with Alzheimer's or autistic, I'll
give them the opportunity to take a class and reapply. Or they can open a
Chapter as an ENT (entrepreneur) and hire an artist.

But, if during the interview, If they argue with me, seem snippy or difficult, that's
not the type of person we're looking for.

Q: Will I still get the $500 credit if my recruit quits?

A:
It depends on the timing. If you are making payments, when you pay off your
balance you will get credit for every recruit who is still in the program. If your
recruit quits after you pay off your balance, you don't have to pay it back, it's
yours to keep.

Q: How do I know that I'll get the credit?

A:
If it's an ad on the Internet, it should have a PIN on it. I use a PIN on any I post
as well. So if the application just says just "craigslist,"  I make them go back and
find it and tell me the PIN. If it's someone you talked to have them put your name
on the application.

Q: How realistic is it to pay off my membership fee with recruiting?

A:
It all depends on how persistent you are. For example, I try to post 10 ads on
Craigslist at a time and do that 3-4 days a week. From 2/22-3/22, I received 33
applications. Out of those, 17 completed the process and were accepted. (That
included sending in samples, calling back for the interview when I left a
message, having the interview and being acceptable) Out of the 17, only 5 of
those put down a deposit and started the curriculum. 4 out of the 5 were my
recruits. One left the program after one week, but to you, those 3 would be
worth $1,500 or half the Membership fee.
